It’s School Holidays again!!! Who else feels like keeping the kids entertained for the next two weeks is going to be a dauntless task? Never fear! Here is a wrap up of free (or cheap!) things to do with your kiddos this Spring.
Hit the Playgrounds and Parks
Between Burleigh and Byron there is an absolute treasure trove of parks and playgrounds. Here are all our favourites for you to choose from!

Skate/Scooter/Bike
Have kids that love to skateboard, bike ride or scooter? There are some great places about! We love the Tugun Skate park for experienced skateboarders. If you have little ones that aren’t up to that level, choose one of the many bike paths/walkways in our area. The bike path between Kingy and Caba is a great one!
Fly a Kite
Choose a windy day and get out there! When we fly our kites we try to go for lots of open spaces and less crowds. The Bangalow Parklands are a fantastic spot!
Watch the Planes at Tugun
Pack a picnic and park yourselves for some serious plane watching! My kids get so excited watching the planes at Coolangatta take off and land! We usually go to the park at Boyd Street in Tugun.
Visit your Local Library
Not only is the library free, but it also has SO many great activities for the kiddos over the hols. Check out your local library’s website for more info! Gold Coast Northern NSW

Beach, beach, beach (or creek)
The possibilities for beach and creek fun between Burleigh and Byron is endless! We are so spoilt for choice! To avoid the crowds go early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Go Bushwalking/Hiking
Pack your water bottles and snacks, lace up your comfiest shoes and off you go! Bush walking can be a magical experience with inquisitive little ones! Check out our tips for bush walking here.
Feed the Rainbow Lorikeets at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Magical and FREE! Feeding times are 8am and 4pm every day.
Go Fishing
Grab your fishing rods and head to one of the many fishing spots around! We love fishing at the lake at Eddie Kornhauser Park in Elanora. (Be aware that some areas will require you to have a fishing licence)
Currumbin Rock Pools
Such a beautiful spot for families! Pack your towels and swimmers and get ready for hours of fun. We go early in the morning to avoid crowds.
